The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation has approved an additional $400 million in financing for the Lobito Atlantic Railway concession, supporting expansion of the existing line operated by Mota-Engil, Trafigura, and Vecturis. The funds will accelerate works on the Angolan section linking the port of Lobito to the Zambian and DRC borders. DFC officials said the commitment underlines the U.S. Global Infrastructure Partnership focus on critical-minerals corridors. Construction tenders for the Zambian extension remain in the evaluation stage with nine shortlisted EPC bidders.
